During the QPAT 2015 convention, I attened a workshop given by The Groove EDGEucation about their movement and dance tool that is meant to promote mental, emotional, and physical health. This workshop had us stomping our feet, clapping our heads, moving around the room, create angles and letters with our bodies, highfiving others, all to the rhythm of some really awesome music. The animator who gave the workshop modelled how to do the activities with children, while still learning basic concepts, like math, or character descriptions.
I started the workshop a little scared to move and dance in front of others, but by the end, I didn't care how I looked because I knew everyone was focusing on themselves and not on others. We had also created a safe and untied space where you "couldn't do it wrong," which is an important message to convey to children too.
Check our their website by clicking here. Below is the info in the QPAT guidebook, which was what intrigued me in the first place.
